Since its inception in 1969, Taylor’s has continuously provided excellent services for its students in terms of diverse study options, relevant curriculum and teaching methods, on-going partnerships with leading universities worldwide, strong industry linkages, up-to-date facilities and a well-equipped campus. Officially upgraded to University in September 2010, Taylor’s is one of Malaysia’s most successful and reputable private higher education institutions.

Taylor’s University offers a myriad of courses in tertiary education, from foundation and diploma, to degree, post-graduate and professional programmes. Students can choose to enrol in courses encompassing fields such as architecture, computer science, education, engineering, quantity surveying, law, business, accounting and finance, communications, design, hospitality management, tourism & culinary arts, biosciences, medicine and pharmacy.

The quality of the undergraduate teaching and learning at Taylor’s was acknowledged when it garnered a ‘Tier 5: Excellent’ rating in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education (SETARA) in 2009 and 2011 by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Taylor’s University made history when it obtained the highly coveted “Tier 6: Outstanding” rating in the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education’s Discipline-Based Rating System (D-SETARA) in 2012. Taylor’s University is the first and only university to achieve “Tier 6”, the highest rating in this inaugural rating exercise conducted by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Taylor’s has also received recognition locally and internationally from professional bodies such as the Conceiving – Designing – Implementing – Operating Initiative (CDIO) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), to name a few.

Currently, Taylor’s has a 70,000-strong alumnus which continues to grow annually, and many of them are now leaders in their respective fields.

  • Universiti Teknologi Petronas

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) is a private research university located in Perak, Malaysia. It was established on 10 January 1997. The campus is built on 400 hectares (990 acres) at Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. The university is a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil company of Malaysia.

UTP places strong emphasis on Research and Development as it strives to achieve the status of an internationally renowned Research University. The university conducts extensive research activities in collaboration with PETRONAS and other institutions and industries locally and abroad focusing on Enhanced Oil Recovery, Carbon Dioxide Management, Deepwater Technology, Nanotechnology, Green Technology, Biomedical Technology, Hybrid Energy Systems, Intelligent Cities and Sustainable Resources. This is evident when UTP was awarded a 5-star rating by Malaysian Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA) for its research, development and commercialisation efforts recently.

The university site is located one kilometre from the village of Tronoh, a former mining town in the Perak Tengah district of Perak, the largest state on the west coast of the peninsula. The 2 site lies within the commercial corridor between Kuala Lumpur and Penang, some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the town of Batu Gajah and 25 kilometres (16 mi) from the city of Ipoh. Within 50 kilometres (31 mi) is the beach at Lumut and within 100 kilometres (62 mi) are the hills of the Cameron highlands.
